The Book Thief Review

If you are looking for a book with drama and adventure, then The Book Thief by Markus Zusak is a perfect match. I found myself constantly being right there with Liesel, a teenager who experiences many troubles and hardships, and her best friend Rudy. This historical fiction novel is filled with loads of serious situations that will put you on the edge of you seat.
The Book Thief is about a girl who is adopted in Germany and has to face many hardships along the way. Along with her is a boy named Rudy who helps her on her journey to happiness. The two reasons why I loved this book are just a fraction of all of them. The Book Thief tells a great story and makes the reader know what it is truly like to be in Germany at the time of Hitler’s reign. Liesel is the character who is key to this experience. She makes it feel real. The second reason is that I never knew what was going to happen next. The book leads you to think that something is going to happen but then, something shocking happens. Every little event was a surprise in front of my eyes. Just these two reasons alone caused me to love this book. I could read it five times in a row!
I strongly recommend this book for teenagers up to adults. It has some events and words that may not be appropriate for a younger audience. The book uses such descriptive words that you will know exactly what is going on. I rate this book a 9 out of 10 stars. Read this exiting novel and you will experience the holocaust hardships in Germany.
